Thieves who snatched plants from a popular Doncaster park are being hunted by the volunteer group which helps look after it.

The Friends of Sandall Park Group has issued a plea for information after blooms were pulled up from the Marshall’s Garden section of the park, next to the cafe car park, over the weekend.

A spokesman said: “It’s the first time it happened for a year. They were new plants planted for this year’s Doncaster in Bloom.

“Chances are it was someone in a car parked next to it. All we need is a car number and or description and we will sort with the authorities.”

The group has been responsible for helping to transform the park in recent years. Anyone with information can contact 0750 332 9309.
