a 20FT shipping container used by a community to store property has been stolen in a night-time raid.

A gang used heavy lifting gear to pinch the rusty orange container from behind the Tadcaster Arms pub in Armthorpe.

Property belonging to Armthorpe Homing Society, including an electronic timing system and several engraved trophies, was inside at the time of the theft.

Sgt Andy Clarke said: “The theft of this container will have taken heavy machinery and lifting equipment to carry it out due to the size and weight of it.“

The container also used by children to store property had double doors and USA written on the side.

The theft in Doncaster Road took place between midnight on Thursday, October 27, and midnight on Friday, October 28. Police have only just realised details.
