Deserving charities were the winners after a fundraising tournament was played at a Doncaster golf club.

Members of Doncaster Golf Club on Bawtry Road, Bessacarr, took part in the weekend and have now split the money between a number of good causes across the borough.

Carol Spiller, of Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust, which is raising cash for an extension to St John’s Hospice, received a cheque for £2,000 from Ray Black, Captain of Doncaster Golf Club.

Other recipients included Sarah Marshall for Danum Schools Sport for Disabled Children, Phil Hall for the Pilgrim’s Trust, and Rosemary Gannon from the Motor Neurone Disease Charity.
