ANOTHER major career boost is in the pipeline for Isle actress Sheridan Smith as she looks ahead to more high profile roles in 2012.
The Epworth star recently tweeted her legions of fans that she had some “exciting news” to share with them.
Sheridan’s parents, Marilyn and Colin, live on Station Road and her proud mum said she was sworn to secrecy over the plum role her daughter has landed.
But Marilyn was only too happy to talk to the Bells/Advertiser and recap another busy 12 months in Sheridan’s showbusiness career.
She said: “Sheridan has just filmed ‘Accused’ and this will be on BBC1 next year. She will also star in an ITV drama ‘Scapegoat’ which is a remake of a Daphne Du Maurier novel.”
The West End star has already won several gongs within showbusiness and Marilyn said Sheridan has now been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress award in the Theatregoers Whatsonstage awards.
This was for her portrayal of Doris, the wife of a Polish RAF pilot in the play Flare Path.
And Sheridan will team up with her brother Damian on the Sky TV series ‘Little Crackers2’ which will be screened over 12 consecutive days from next Monday, December 19.
The short films feature many stars recalling childhood memories and both siblings will appear alongside their parents on the Sky 1 HD series.
Sheridan plays her own mum and Damian portrays a northern club compere while Colin and Marilyn - who still perform in Doncaster as Country and Western act The Daltons - also take to the stage.
“Sky came up to Bentley Working Men’s Club where we perform and we all had to go down to London as well,” added Marilyn.
“They filmed everything and really went to town on the series, it was great fun.”
