PLans to extend a controversial wind farm are being explored by an energy company.

Renewable energy company Banks Renewables is considering applying for planning permission for an extension of up to four further turbines at the Marr wind farm.

The original scheme provoked protest when it was unveiled, with 150 objections being lodged with Doncaster Council, because of concerns including the noise and visual impact it would have on the landscape.

Four parish council’s also objected.

No definite decision has yet been taken by Banks on whether it will seek to build such an extension, but the company has confirmed that if it does seek planning permission the application will be submitted by autumn of this year.
