Subway fills the gaps

SANDWICH retailer Subway has just opened a new outlet in Wath and announced plans for major expansion across the region.
Around 525 jobs are due to be created over the next five years under plans revealed by development agents for South Yorkshire. According to Rachana and Kiran Pancholi, who run their own outlets, the expansion includes more than doubling the number of stores in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire from 34 to 69 and recruiting up to 15 new franchisees.
As well as the new outlet at the Onyx Retail Park on Manvers Way, Wath, Subway will also be opening another Doncaster branch this year to compliment the three already operating in the town centre.
The expansion is also part of a UK-wide plan to increase the number of Subway stores to 2,000 over the same time period and create up to 6,000 new posts.
Rachana pointed out that quality and value for money were big factors in the company’s success along with its commitment to the Government’s `responsibility pledges’ on health and nutrition and its wide range of low fat sandwiches,
