AN MP who is keen to promote work and training opportunities for young people is planning to recruit an apprentice.
John Healey, member for Wentworth and Dearne, is advertising for an apprentice administrator and caseworker for his constituency office in Wath.
The successful applicant will be employed full-time for a year and attend Dearne Valley College weekly to study an NVQ in business and administration. Mr Healey pointed out that youth employment nationally was close to one million and the number out of work in his own constituency had more than tripled in 2012. “This shows that apprenticeships aren’t just for people who want to train as plumbers or electricians – there are apprenticeships out there that allow young people to take a first step in a wide range of different careers,” he added.
