More unemployed people are joining the Doncaster dole queue.
The number of residents claiming jobseeker’s allowance increased by 118 to a total of 10,126 last month.
Figures released by the Office of National Statistics showed one in 19 Doncaster people aged between 16 and 64 are out of work.
Rosie Winterton, the Doncaster Central MP, believes women in the borough have suffered particularly badly in the latest increase.
She added: “The figures are a blow for hard-working families in Doncaster.
“It shows that the Government’s plan for growth is hurting, not helping, people in the borough. Women are bearing the brunt of redundancies.”
