GOOLE is to get a new DIY store later this month with the opening of B and Q on the site of the former Focus DIY complex on Rawcliffe Road.
And one of the longest serving workers there has set up a campaign to get superstar Peter Andre to perform the official opening ceremony.
Karen Coom has dedicated a Facebook page to gathering support for her mission and so far has more than 1,500 supporters.
The Goole branch of Focus was one of just 31 out of 178 nationwide that Kingfisher, the owners of B and Q, agreed to buy for a total of £23m after the company went into administration in May.
All 18 jobs have been secured at the site which is currently undergoing a re-fit.
A spokesperson for B and Q said Karen was one of the oldest serving members of staff at the new store, having worked at the site previously under Great Mills and Focus.
