VIPs from Luxembourg and Thailand have been among the first to take off using Robin Hood Airport’s new business flights.

Weston Aviation’s managing director Nick Weston said aircraft movements had slightly increased since last year which was a positive step in the right direction for the future.

Opening a new business aviation centre at the Finningley airport last month was a significant advancement in the company’s growth, he added.

The move took Weston’s portfolio of UK business aviation centres to four making it the second largest independent UK chain of fixed base operators in terms of locations.

As part of the arrangement, the firm has taken responsibility for local charter sales development and marketing for both business aviation and cargo aircraft operations at Robin Hood.

Mr Weston said: “This new partnership with the airport is going very well and already we’ve had a very positive response from both regular and new customers alike.

“We’ve begun marketing to local businesses and we have already had a number of charter enquiries as a result of this. We’d like local businesses to use private aircraft charter to benefit their business.”
