The event was all in aid of the Lindsey Lodge Hospice which is based in Scunthorpe, but has a fundraising shop in Epworth.

Spokesman, and quiz master for the evening, Terry Condliff, told the Bells/Advertiser that the evening was very much enjoyed by all those that attended and the scores reflected a very high standard of knowledge by all present with a winning score of 65 out of a possible 84.

He said: “I tried to set a fair and varied range of questions including a ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire section’, but this proved to be the lowest scoring round as the Jabiru Stork caused a large mental block for most of the quizzers.

“But overall they enjoyed the evening and it was made even better as we raised around £1,100 for a very worthwhile cause.”

Next up in the Isle of Axholme Lions fundraising calendar will be the Father Christmas sleigh.
