BINGO callers and players have been putting their dabbers to good use - raising £4,282 for a cancer charity.

Players and staff at Mecca Bingo in East Laith Gate, Doncaster, have raised the cash for Marie Curie Cancer Care by taking part in a mass sky-dive, holding an It’s a Knockout Tournament.

They have also been involved in cake sales, tombolas, themed party nights and a Blooming Great Tea Party.

The bingo team were paid a visit by Charlotte Sewell from the charity so she could personally thank them for being one of the 98 Mecca Bingos working together to raise £420,000 for them over the last two years.

Paul Goy, general manager of Mecca Bingo Doncaster, said: “I’ve been so impressed with the drive and enthusiasm the team members have shown over the past two years when it came to organising fundraising events at the club.

“The impressive result achieved by Mecca Bingo clubs as a whole just goes to show how hard everyone has worked.

“We shouldn’t forget that this impressive result is also down to our generous customers – we wouldn’t have been able to do this without them.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to support Marie Curie Cancer Care throughout 2012.”
