A BIG, furry friend called at Wombwell Library last week to visit young story-time fans.

Youngsters who regularly visit and enjoy the Tuesday morning story-time were joined by some new faces - and one of them had blue fur and a long snout....

Bookstart Bear joined in the story circle and was happy to hug some of his young fans afterwards.

Deborah Blewitt of Barnsley Libraries service said: “We were really pleased with how the morning went.

“Wombwell Library has a regular story-time group but we hope some new members and families will go along after being there to meet Bookstart Bear.”

Youngsters can join in the sessions any Tuesday from 10am to 10.45am.

Bookstart Bear has been out and about in Barnsley during September calling at libraries to enjoy stories and rhymes with pre-school children and to promote the Bookstart Bear Club. Members of the club for 0-4 year olds get a welcome pack with a Bookstart Bear Club Passport, to collect paw-print stamps and earn rewards.
