THE bear display at Doncaster Council's Museum and Art Gallery has been empty lately because two bears had a nippy vacation to the Ice Age.
It was feared the European brown bears were about to fall victim to an attack from museum carpet beetles, so they were swiftly sent to an icy climate to protect their fur from damage.

However, the general public will be pleased to know that after a sub-zero spell in a walk-in freezer, the bears are now bug free and back where they belong.

Throughout the summer holidays children are invited to come and visit the bears and take part in various activities, such as quizzes and trails, which the museum offers.

The museum beetles, which are ironically known as 'woolly bears', feed on fur and caused a serious threat to the historic bears, which date all the way back to the 1870s.
