THORNE swimming pool bosses are urging local people to make a splash for free with Borough Treasure passes.
The scheme provides any Doncaster resident over the age of 60 free or discounted entry to many of Doncaster's leisure attractions and leisure centres, including Thorne.

Mayor Martin Winter said: "The Government has recently announced plans to offe
r free admission to public swimming pools to the over 60s to encourage more people to take up the sport in light of the London Olympics.

"Due to the Borough Treasures scheme I set up last year, residents in Doncaster have already been getting the benefits of free swimming sessions, and the scheme continues to go from strength to strength."

Borough Treasures members can enjoy free swimming sessions at their choice of one of the seven council-run leisure centres with swimming pools.

Residents on the scheme are encouraged to take advantage of these free swimming sessions, as they are an ideal way to keep fit, improve mobility and meet new people in a safe environment.

Any Doncaster resident over 60 can become a member of the Borough Treasures by taking proof of their identity to one of the Council's Customer Services Centres.

They will be given a membership pass, badge, booklet and sheet of vouchers. For more information 01302 736000.
