A BRIDGE in Fishlake has been closed after it was deemed unsafe for traffic by Doncaster Council.
Jubilee Bridge was closed to all vehicles suddenly on May 8 following an updated inspection. It is not known when the bridge will reopen.

Peter Dale, director of development at Doncaster Council, said: "As with all our bridges in the borough, we carried out a thorough inspection of Jubilee Bridge in Fishlake from November 2008 to January 2009.

"Although the results from the inspection found that there was no immediate cause for concern, we put a monthly monitoring programme in place to detect any further deterioration.

"Following this month's inspection we took the decision to close Jubilee Bridge on 8 May 2009.

"We are currently looking at solutions to the repair works of the bridge in order to make it safe for the public to use again."
