VISITORS flocked to the sixth annual Stainforth Water Festival claimed as the 'best yet'.
The festival, which took place last weekend, welcomed blue skies and hundreds of visitors to view over 60 barges.

Stephen Cook, organiser of the festival, said: "The event went very very well. Lots of people came this year and the weather came fine."

"I think it was better than last year. We had more people there and the
church service on Sunday was packed. In fact I would say it has been
the best festival yet."

The festival which ran over two days contained entertainment, stalls, crafts and a barge rides. Food was served at the local New Inn pub while visitors were asked to attend an open air church service on Sunday.

Connecting with its water trade past, the festival is popular among the community and barge enthusiasts.

The event had to be cancelled in 2007 due to flooding in the area.
