Well-loved comedy duo The Chuckle Brothers will be welcomed by the Doncaster Dome for a brand new swashbuckling spoof of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Barry Elliot, 67, and his brother Paul, 64, are set to bring their trademark slapstick humour and catchphrases to the stage when they star in The Chuckle Brothers Return of the River Rother 2 in Strange Tights on March 31.

Laughs for all the family are guaranteed as the popular pair whisk audiences away on a nautical adventure when a trip to the theme park takes an unexpected turn. After going on a water ride, they find themselves transported back in time to a world filled with pirates and hidden treasure.

Michael Hart, Chief Executive of Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, who manage the Dome, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the Chuckle Brothers back to the Dome. South Yorkshire is their home turf and they always get a warm South Yorkshire welcome.

“The show has got something for everyone – it’ll have the whole family laughing, from children to grandparents.”

The brothers, from Rotherham, are best known for their BBC show, ChuckleVision, which is due to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year with a one-off special. Plans for a 3D film are also in the pipeline.

Tickets for the show are on sale now at £14. For more information and to book, call Doncaster Dome’s Box Office on (01302) 370777, or go to The Dome
