A MAKEOVER at a Doncaster town centre pub has proved a huge hit with regulars.

The Tut ‘N’ Shive has undergone a transformation with new toilets, lighting and a revamped bar area.

Landlord Nick Coster says that the changes have not only improved comfort for customers but also maintained the West Laith Gate pub’s much-loved character.

He said: “The feedback has been really positive. People were worried that we might lose the heritage that the Tut has built up over the past 20 years but we’ve made sure to maintain that and make some improvements.

“The new toilets are the part of the refurbishment which have attracted the most praise and we do hope that people do like what has been done. Many of our regulars have said that they are really pleased with the new look.”

The Leger weekend was as busy as ever with an uplift in food sales as customers tried out the pub’s revamped menu.

Mr Coster added: “There is a new menu with value-priced food. People seem to have come in to take a look at the refurb and have also spotted the new menu and stayed to eat. Several customers have said that it now feels more comfortable and relaxed in our new bar area.”

Visitors can also enjoy sporting action on new high definition 60-inch screens, which have replaced a large projector.

Among the special offers currently available are a baguette and pint deal for £5, two jugs of cocktails for £10 on a Thursday and four bottles of cider for £12 on a Sunday.

The traditional classic rock night is continuing on a Sunday evening with a quiz from 9.30pm, and a quiz is also being introduced on a Wednesday at 9pm - which will alternate between music questions and general knowledge.
