A former teacher who has dreamt of writing a book since she was a teenager has finally penned her debut novel.

Felicity Hutchinson, who writes under the name Felicity Knight, has just published Carenza’s Journey, the story of a young girl’s journey through life against the backdrop of World War Two.

And the 64-year-old admits that seeing her book hit the shelves was a dream come true.

She said: “It was absolutely amazing, so exciting to see my hard work come to fruition. My family are very proud of me.”

Mrs Knight, of Birchwood Gardens, Braithwell, said: “I never had time to write when I was teaching. But as soon as I retired, I started writing and ideas that I’d had in my head for a long time ended up on the page.”

The book took 12 months from start to finish and she has already penned a sequel, with a third book also under way.

“I now write whenver I can,” she added. “But it certainly didn’t rule my life and sometimes it was difficult to fit in around the family.”

Carenza’s Journey is available from Waterstone’s as well as online at Amazon.
