The curtain went up on Doncaster’s annual seasonal spectacular this week with cast members of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs gathering for the cameras, even though the show doesn’t take to the stage at the Civic Theatre until December.

The show, which stars Tracey Beaker, Waterloo Road and Emmerdale actress Kay Purcell as the Wicked Queen, will be the very last panto to be staged at the venue which is due to close to make way for the new performance venue in the New Year.

Producer David Lee said: “This wonderful old theatre holds so many happy horizons for us all and new horizons await. I am thrilled to present such a fabulous cast in this magical and glittering production of enchantment and fun.”

The show will also see Nigel Peever return for a third year and he will be joined by rising comedy star James Percy. There will even be a filmed appearance by legendary comic Ken Dodd.

The show runs from December 13 to January 6 and tickets are on sale now on (01302) 342349, priced from £6.50 to £44.
