A DONCASTER area property development firm has been honoured with a prestigious building honour - after entering its very first awards ceremony.

Fenwood Estates scooped the runners-up prize in the LABC South Yorkshire and Humber Building in Excellence Awards 2012 at a glittering ceremony last week.

Fenwood Estates’ development of two and four-bedroom detached homes at Martin Lane, Bawtry, were recently shortlisted from many housing sites in the Yorkshire and Humberside region for the LABC Best Housing Development in the 2 – 10 unit category.

The homes on the site were built to a very high standard of specification and incorporate many eco-friendly features.

Both houses subsequently achieved Code Level 3 for Sustainable Homes.

Doncaster MBC Building Control put forward the development initially, which was then shortlisted through to the final four.

These four developments then went head to head to be voted on by the final panel of judges and to were announced at the LABC Gala Dinner and Award ceremony at Forest Pines, Scunthorpe, on April 19 where Fenwood picked up second spot.

A spokesman for Fenwood Estates said the company were “very proud” to be announced runners up on the evening, this being the first award ceremony that they had ever attended.

Melissa Fennell, Development Director of Fenwoo (pictured), said: “We were so overwhelmed when we heard news of our nomination.

“We are a small family run business and do take great pride in all of our developments.

“Being runners up means the world to us and we cant wait to see if our current site Dove View at Wombwell gets put forward into the 2013 awards.”
