Flashback to Rotherham Children's Festival from 2013.

Talented folk from across the Dearne are being invited to the region’s X-factor style performance event later this year.

If your passion is dancing or you have the voice of an angel or maybe you can wow an audience with your magic tricks, then the ‘Rotherham’s Got Talent’ competition is your chance to shine.

Young people are being invited to strut their stuff at the major talent contest.

Talented people of all ages are invited to enter the third Rotherham’s Got Talent competition and the organisers, Rotherham Borough Council, are expecting high standards from this year’s entries.

The competition always draws together the biggest and the best the region has to offer and organisers are expecting this year to be no different.

Business manager at Rotherham Council, Fiona Radford, said: “Last year we had over 50 entries and the standard was exceptional. There’s a wide range of acts from dance troupes to opera singers through to comedians and magicians.

“But people must remember that the competition is not just for the district’s children and its young people, if grown-ups have a talent then they too are also welcome to enter and to take part.”

The competition has become a major feature of the Children’s Festival in Rotherham.

The popular event takes place each year in June and it culminates with a grand finale at the New York Stadium – Rotherham United’s football ground in New York Way.

The competition is again expected to be held in front of a packed audience and a discerning judging panel.

There is still time to take part in the prestigious contest with auditions taking place on May 19 at Rawmarsh City Learning Centre.

The deadline for entries to the contest is Friday, May 8. For more information and an entry form contact Julie Garrow, Rotherham Borough Council on 01709 382121.
