SWINTON was full of festive spirit this week when the Christmas lights were officially switched on at two different sites.

About 80 pupils from Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School were in good voice for some carol singing before the switch on at Swinton Civic Hall on Monday afternoon.

Just an hour or so later local dignitaries, including town councillor Ken Wyatt, gathered to see the Christmas tree lights lit up at the Woodman roundabout.

Sponsorship was provided by Wilmott Dixon Partnership and the “Johnnie Johnson” Housing Trust.

Coun Wyatt thanked both companies for their donations and said it was “absolutely fantastic to see the Christmas traditions in Swinton continued.

“I am sure residents will really appreciate all the time and effort made by all parties,” he added.
