Viva Espana! Pupils enjoy a taste of Spain - Slideslow
THE Axholme Academy was transformed into a Spanish isle for a day when pupils learned about the culture of Spain.
Usual lessons were put on hold when the whole of year seven took part in workshops as part of an ‘enrichment day’ to develop their personal, learning and thinking skills.
Acoustic roots duo Mambo Jambo gave the pupils a lesson in Flamenco dancing accompanied by Spanish guitar playing.
Young señores and señoritas donned traditional Spanish dress and learned the expressive Flamenco style.
A Spanish language lesson included a lively dance to a Spanish song.
Youngsters were also given a taste of Spain, where they sampled the nation’s cuisine including olives, chorizo and tortillas.
They expanded their IT and artistic skills by producing a stop-motion animation to advertise holidays in Spain.
The day finished with the whole year group and staff dancing together to Juan Pequeno baila.
