Trio’s trek raises cash for cancer
Great Wall climbers.
An intrepid granddad has ticked of one of his “bucket list” adventures - and raised £20,000 for a cancer charity to boot.
Jim Beachill trekked 100 miles along the Great Wall of China, a wonder of the world that had fascinated him since boyhood.
Accountant Jim was accompanied on his trip by his grandchildren Jack, 14, and Elishia, 12.
It’s the third charity trek Jim and his family have undertaken.
A Hadrian’s Wall challenge saw the trio raise £6,000 for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, which also benefitted from the £20,00 raised from the China trek. Jim’s wife Barbara joined them for an American coast to coast adventure last year.
Jim was inspired to compile his personal bucket list after seeing the film of the same name two years ago.
Jim, of Conisbrough, chose to support Weston Park because his wife had been treated there and it was a way of saying thank you.
