The show goes on after 13 years - Doncaster Show slideshow

FUN for all the family was on offer at the Doncaster Show that made a triumphant return after more than a decade.

The event, last staged in 1999, certainly came back with a bang thanks to volunteer group Doncaster Lions which resurrected the once annual extravaganza.

Organisers said around 5,000 flocked to the free event at Doncaster Deaf Trust on Saturday and Sunday where archery classes, zumba sessions and dog ability displays as well as live music were all on offer.

Speaking about the event John Carter of Doncaster Lions said: “It went very well, everyone seemed to be having a lovely time, especially the children.

“I think the success of the event has firmly established it on the map once again after all these years.

“We will be having a meeting over the next few weeks to discuss plans for next year’s show.”

Past shows received grant funding but, as that has not been available this year, Doncaster Lions received help from businesses and sponsors who chipped in to help cover the cost of running the event.

Mr Carter added: “We want to thank everyone who helped out and made the event possible.”
