THESE sports fans were hit for six to discover they were quids in with Sport England, and were visited by their MP to help them celebrate.

Warmsworth Cricket Club has been awarded £50,000 to replace the roof of its pavilion, as part of a funding scheme called The Places People Play - Inspired Facilities.

It is part of a round of cash intended to be part of the Olympic legacy.

Don Valley MP Caroline Flint met club officials to offer her congratulations to the club.

She said: “Well done to Warmsworth Cricket Club for winning this investment from Sport England. This is proof that the Olympics effect can reach right into villages here in South Yorkshire.

“This is a vote of confidence in the future of Warmsworth Cricket Club and recognition that the great players of tomorrow learn their craft at grassroots community clubs like this.”
