Smoking shelter at snooker club site

A DONCASTER snooker club has submitted plans to build a new smoking shelter next to its premises.

Details of the proposal for the Woodlands Snooker Club site on Great North Road, Woodlands, have been submitted to Doncaster Council’s planning department.

The shelter would be outside the main building.

Cooking sessions

YOUNGSTERS at a primary school near Doncaster are set to roll up their sleeves to cook up a feast of Indian food.

Every child at Mattersey Primary School, along with their teachers and parents, will be taking part in the national Let’s Get Cooking BIG Cookathon 2013 on Thursday.

It is intended to give adults and children the confidence, skills and knowledge to cook good food and is run by The Children’s Food Trust.

Spring birds walk

POTTERIC Carr Nature Reserve in Doncaster will stage a spring birds event at the weekend.

Staff will run their Early Spring Walk on Sunday morning to show people the sort of birds which are starting to appear in the borough at this time of year. Phone 01302 570077 to book a place on the session, which starts at 8am.

Hospice fundraiser

A DONCASTER hotel will be rocking for Bluebell Wood Hospice next week.

The Regent Hotel his hosting a fundraiser which will feature covers band Zuel Rock, a DJ, and pie and peas. There will also be a raffle of prizes including horse racing tickets and nights and meals at the hotel, on Friday March 15. Tickets are £5 each from the hotel and the event will run from 7pm.

Shop proposal

A SHOP building could soon be built next an electricity sub-station in a Doncaster village. Proposals for a retail unit have been sent to Doncaster Council for consideration at the site on High Street, Bentley.

Police meeting

ARMTHORPE residents will meet this week to decide what are the most important issues for the police to deal with. The Partners and Communities Together Meeting will be held at Edenthorpe Community Centre, on Cedric Road, at 7.30pm on Thursday.
