Fantastic Friday! Communities’ mass response to Macmillan’s ‘biggest coffee morning’ appeal.

Dearne and Don folk turned out in force to pop the kettle on and help raise thousands of pounds to help treat cancer patients.
From Conisbrough to Thurnscoe, willing hands got the steam up for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Along with countless cuppas sold, raffles, games and cake stalls helped boost the charity’s coffers.
For Julie White of the Comrades Club at Goldthorpe, it was her very first fundraiser and she was thrilled with the huge support that resulted in proceeds of more than £1,000.
The 54-year old wanted to support Macmillan following the loss of close friend Dawn Saunders of Wombwell, who died within weeks of a cancer diagnosis in June.
Julie said: “Times are hard but every local shop contributed to the raffle and so many people baked cakes or turned up to support us. We’re thrilled with the result.”
At Prospect Road, Bolton, PCSO Pat Ayres linked up with mum Gemma Bailey and two coffee mornings became one, with a host of kids’ activities and a big bake-off.
Pat too had special reasons for getting involved, after losing her mum to cancer recently then discovering her 25-year old daughter had lymphoma.
Similar superb efforts took place at The Terrace, Conisbrough, Pastures Lodge at Mexborough and Dunholme Social Club at Wath.
At Rawmarsh, staff and pupils at St Joseph’s RC Primary School held their own event.
