WORK is progressing on a new Frankie and Benny’s restaurant at Parkgate, with the fities’ style Italian and American eaterie due to open by November this year.

The restaurant, that is expected to create up to 30 jobs, was refused initially by Rotherham Council then later accepted under conditions that will see £130,000 of investment in to Rotherham town centre.

Another store, Poundland, has recently relocated in to a larger unit at Parkgate.

The recently established Asda Living will host a special event from 2pm on August 31 with Peppa Pig meeting young shoppers, as part of a bid to raise £100,000 for the baby charity Tommy’s.

Tommy’s helps to fund medical research into pregnancy complications and the campaign at Parkgate will continue until September 17.
