Court hands fines for littering Doncaster streets
Councillor Cynthia Ransome, deputy mayor, takes a closer look at litter issues around Lakeside.
LITTERING the streets of Doncaster has landed 17 people with fines.
They were all convicted by Doncaster magistrates court in recent prosecutions taken out by Doncaster Council, after failing to pay a fixed penalty notices for depositing and leaving litter in public places.
One was ordered pay to £367 in cost and fines.
Deputy mayor, Coun Cynthia Ransome, cabinet member for communities, street scene and environmental protection said: “We are determined to show people that littering our streets is unacceptable. Ignorance is no excuse for littering and refusing to pay a fixed penalty notice won’t make the fine go away, it will just make it more costly in the long run.”
