IT was a cool opening for a new ice cafe which also included a very special guest in the shape of Captain Jack Sparrow.

The new Icicle Works Ice Cafe unveiled its shop on the top floor of the Frenchgate Centre.

The cafe serves up cold drinks including milkshakes, Slush Puppies, smoothies as well as boasting a hot drinks range from its new base which is next to shoe shop Deichmann.

To mark the opening, a lookalike Jack Sparrow, from the Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster film, was a cool customer as he jumped ship to support the new venture for its owner Kimberley Farquhar.

She said: “A significant investment has been made to make the premises look exactly how we want and we hope both the interior and our products will dazzle shoppers in and around the Doncaster area.”

There was also a prize draw on offer during Saturday’s opening and customers could claim VIP passes to get photographed with Captain Sparrow.
