A SCHOOL non-uniform day has helped to deck out a garden.

Pupils at Intake Primary School have been helping councillors, police and volunteers to create the community garden, and the £108 proceeds from their dress-down event will go to help buy bird boxes, gardening equipment, decorations and items to help maintain the area.

The children were taken for a sneak preview of the garden in Montgomery Gardens ahead of its official opening at the end of this month.

The youngsters were accompanied on their green-fingered visit by school staff, police community support officers, community gardening volunteers and representatives from Doncaster Council.
